The Coverup

While everyone was largely distracted in the last few days with all the salacious news reports about the scandalous new book spilling secrets from inside the Trump White House, a much more important editorial in The New York Times (link here) was published with far less public attention.

And this editorial hints at secrets far more damning to Donald Trump that could lead to his criminal prosecution.

The piece was written by the co-heads of a company that conducted opposition research into Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. They condemned the highly partisan House of Representatives committee "investigation" into Trump and Russian connections, which is spending far more time trying to cover the President's ass and attacking anyone struggling to bring the truth to light.

The piece starts out with some background and then moves on to paragraphs containing these highly damning two sentences:

"We suggested investigators look into the bank records of Deutsche Bank and others that were funding Trump’s businesses.... We told Congress that from Manhattan to Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, and from Toronto to Panama, we found widespread evidence that Trump and his organization had worked with a wide array of dubious Russians in arrangements that often raised questions about money laundering."

The pair are requesting that their congressional testimony be made public. All Americans deserve to see what was said. The testimony is not classified but remains sealed.

Will the committee continue its partisan stonewalling to protect Trump's possible criminality?

Almost certainly Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team are speaking with these two men as part of their criminal investigation into Trump and his associates. At least we can be assured that their actions are impartial and, unlike Congress, they can make potentially guilty persons face a criminal trial.
