The Indictment

The Department of Justice has a long-standing policy that sitting Presidents cannot be indicted. An article in Politico yesterday suggests that may soon change.

The piece is titled "Russia probe lawyers think Mueller could indict Trump" (link here). The lead sentence says it all: "Special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation has gathered enough steam that some lawyers representing key Donald Trump associates are considering the possibility of a historic first: an indictment against a sitting president."

This idea makes a lot of sense. Trump has tried his damndest to derail Mueller's criminal investigation of him and his associates. If Mueller throws down a gauntlet and indicts the President, that puts the latter on the defensive.

It may be the only way to wake up Congress that they need to do their job and stop acting like Trump's accomplices.

Read the linked article and share. It's too good to miss.

This year may go down in American history has having some important historic firsts. Stay tuned.
